Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje are to fight at UFC 274
Islam Makhachev still seems to be a little bitter about missing out on a UFC Lightweight title shot after he posted a Twitter update.
The Dagestani star took a swipe at Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje by sharing a collage of the pair.
Gaethje and Oliveira both were glasses or have worn them, and that seemed to get Makhachev riled up. He claimed that the pair were “nerds” and that he never liked nerds.
Wearing glasses doesn’t necessarily equate to someone being a nerd but that doesn’t seem to be in Makhachev’s line of thinking.
The 30-year-old thought he was going to get a title shot after defeating Bobby Green in February. However, Dana White claimed that Makhachev would still have to face Beneil Dariush in the future for a title shot.
Green replaced Dariush at the last moment after Dariush picked up an ankle injury.
Charles Oliveira vs Justin Gaethje will be a banger
Makhachev will be watching the Gaethje vs Oliveira fight closely at UFC 274. Oliveira comes into this fight as the Lightweight Champion and has impressed since winning the gold.
This will be Gaethje’s second attempt at winning the undisputed title. He had a chance against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 254 but lost that bout.
Gaethje then defeated Michael Chandler at UFC 268 to get a second crack at the gold. Oliveira, for his part, won the vacant title against Chandler at UFC 262.
He then put on a classic show against Dustin Poirier at UFC 269, and this will be his third title defence.
Gaethje and Oliveira are two of the most exciting fighters in the UFC, and this UFC 274 bout should be an instant classic.
