Michael Cera As Hank, A Bumbling Beagle

Michael Cera leads the cast of PAWS OF FURY: THE LEGEND OF HANK as the titular beagle who aspires to become a warrior. Although he is most known for his roles in comedy series and films such as “Arrested Development” and SUPERBAD, Cera has extensive expertise in voice acting, having participated in a variety of animated productions throughout his career.

The first film that comes to mind when thinking about Cera’s voice-work is undoubtedly THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE, in which he voiced Richard “Dick” Grayson, aka Robin, a character he would also reprise in the short film COOKING WITH ALFRED. Cera has also starred in films such as SAUSAGE PARTY and CRYPTOZOO. Cera has also contributed his voice for series such as “Braceface,” “The Berenstain Bears,” “Childrens Hospital,” and “The Simpsons.”

Shogun is the monarch of the Kakamucho and a British shorthair cat that appears to favor Hank. Shogun is an animated recreation of Gov. William J. Le Petomane, a Yiddish-speaking Native American leader from Blazing Saddles.

Mel Brooks, who directed and authored Blazing Saddles, provides the voice of Shogun. Over the course of his seven-decade career, the actor, comedian, and director has received accolades for his work in films such as Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, Spaceballs, Dracula: Dead, and Loving It, and others. Brooks has also portrayed and voiced roles in films such as Robots, The Producers, and the Hotel Transylvania sequels, among many more.

George Takei As Ohga, Leader Of Ika Chu’s Army

Ohga is a strong Manx cat that serves as the commander of Ika Chu’s army and his right-hand man. Ohga is based on Mongo, the dimwitted yet philosophical henchman from Blazing Saddles. George Takei provides the voice of Ohga.

The experienced actor is best known for his portrayal of Hikaru Sulu in the Star Trek television series and later sequels. Takei has also starred in films such as Blood Oath/Prisoners of the Sun, Oblivion, and Larry Crowne, as well as television shows such as Heroes, Supah Ninjas, and The Neighbors.

Gabriel Iglesias As Chuck, A Clumsy Calico Cat

We have the self-proclaimed “fluffy” stand-up sensation Gabriel Iglesias, who has many, many other significant voice acting credits, playing a fluffy clumsy calico cat named Chuck. Sumo, as the name suggests, is a massive ginger cat who terrorizes Kakamucho. Djimon Hounsou provides Sumo’s voice. The Academy Award-winning actor and model rose to prominence in Steven Spielberg’s Amistad. Following that, he became well-known for his parts in Gladiator, Blood Diamond, and Constantine. He also appears in The Island, Guardians of the Galaxy, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Aquaman, Captain Marvel, A Quiet Place Part II, Charlie’s Angels, and The King’s Man.

Hounsou’s next appearance will be as The Wizard in the superhero sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods, as well as Zack Snyder’s sci-fi movie Rebel Moon as a figure named General Titus, and the true-life thriller Last Breath where he’ll be joined by Woody Harrelson and Simu Liu.

Kylie Kuoika, a Hawaiian-born actor who is not only making her voice acting debut, but also her theatrically released feature picture debut in Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank, plays Emiko, an adorable little cat with her own heroic goals. Better Nate Than Ever, a Disney+ exclusive, had her formal feature-length film début earlier in 2024. The 2021 short horror film Harom was the young Broadway performer’s first genuine cinematic acting debut. In 2024, she also appeared in Removable, a more realistic and tragic short film.

Aasif Mandvi As Ichiro, A Slim Tuxedo Cat

Mandvi, a former Daily Show journalist, began her career in modest parts such as a pizzeria owner in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2, a bike messenger dispatcher in Joseph Gordon-Premium Levitt’s Rush, and a Google employee in The Internship.

Mandvi is now starring in the Paramount Plus series Evil as Ben, a tech analyst who seeks reasonable answers for supposedly supernatural phenomena. His amazing comic timing and deadpan delivery are on full show for spectators to appreciate as he shares most of his moments with the equally amusing Gabriel Iglesias in his role as Ichiro the tuxedo cat.

Cathy Shim As Little Mama, The Grand Dame Of Kakamucho

Cathy Shim, who made her uncredited feature film debut alongside co-star Michelle Yeoh in 2005’s Memoirs of a Geisha, plays the Grand Dame of the village being contested over, Kakamucho, Little Mama. She’d previously made some of her initial Reno 911! appearances as various characters, including Miss Junior, who she’d reprise in the Emmy-nominated, feature-length Paramount+ exclusive Reno 911!: The Hunt for QAnon in 2021.

 

She also appeared in 2007’s Balls of Fury (which has nothing to do with this new animated feature), the 2009 horror-comedy The Revenant (which has nothing to do with the 2015 Leonardo DiCaprio film), and a few tiny appearances in comedies such as 2012’s The Watch and Hell Baby from 2013. Shim also appeared on L.A.’s Finest and in the 2019 love drama The Sun is Also a Star.
