Checking for steam status updates

Have trouble logging in or loading Steam? Sometimes online traffic can be a lot. Any given time suddenly there are just too many users at once and for such a popular hub. There is constantly loading, uploading, and downloading new games or products, and people going through purchase transactions. Like any massive platform, there are bound to be outages and server problems. So how do you check the server status of Steam?

Checking the Server Status of Steam

You can check for status updates at the Steam community hub, SteamDB. The hub has specific status information such as how many users are online, how different areas of the site are currently performing, and other options. SteamDB is an unofficial service, however. Although it is the most popular site that keeps up with how Steam is performing for people around the world to use and look in on. Down Detector is also a useful site to visit. It helps see if the problem is on your end or Steam’s.

Although most of Steam’s problems are on Valve’s end rather than any given user. You really can’t do much but check in every so often to see if traffic slows down or when the servers come back online. You can also try restarting Steam to see if it fixes the problem.

Only minutes after pre-orders went live, users were hit with long waiting times, error messages, and endless loading screens, unable to place their orders.
