Coco Gauff heart-broken over Texas shooting amidst French Open campaign

Coco Gauff is scheduled to take on Kaia Kanepi tomorrow in the third round of the Roland Garros

Coco Gauff has made a good start to her French Open campaign but is heart-broken over incidents happening back home. The American teenager is set to play her third round encounter in Paris tomorrow but can’t stop thinking about the horrific shooting that took place in a Texas school. Gauff took to Twitter to express her feeling of helplessness and grief.

“I’m so heartbroken to hear the news of what happened in Texas… my heart goes out to all of the families, kids, and everyone involved. we all NEED to do better for our young youth”, tweeted Gauff.

Nineteen young children and two adults died in a shooting at a primary school in south Texas on Tuesday. The unfortunate incident back home has definitely affected Gauff personally as she prepares to take on Estonia’s Kaia Kanepi at the Roland Garros.

Fans on Twitter were quick to express their support for Gauff following the teenager’s tweet. They offered to share the sorrow and overcome this tough phase together.

“It’s really devastating to witness such a tragic loss of innocent lives as a result of gun violence. My condolences to the victims families in Texas and all those affected by this tragedy, in their moment of profound sorrow and sadness”, wrote a fan, expressing her solidarity.

“Thank you for saying SOMETHING!! You will make a difference now and in the future!! We have some who are so afraid to speak up for fear of losing endorsements and or fans! Your courage make me a fan for life. Proud of you”, tweeted another fan.

Another fan tweeted, “Your peers and colleagues can learn from you despite your age. Keep speaking out against evil and standing up for what’s right and good things will come your way God bless you.”
