Who Is Shinzo Abe?

Shinzo Abe was a Japanese politician. On 21 September 1954, he was born in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan, to his parents, Shintaro Abe and Yoko Abe. Shinzo did his primary education at Seikei Elementary School and Seikei Junior and Senior High School. Later, in 1977, he graduated with Bachelor’s degree in political science and also studied public administration at Seikei University. Then, he moved to the United States and studied public policy at the University of Southern California. In April 1979, he worked at Kobe Steel and left to pursue government positions such as Executive Assistant and Private Secretary to government officials. 

In 1993, Shinzo was elected to the first district of Yamaguchi Prefecture after his father’s death. In 1999, he became the Director of the Social Affairs Division. Then, Shinzo became a member of the Mori Faction of the Liberal Democratic Party. From 1996 to 2024, he has been the Member of the House of Representatives from Yamaguchi. During these years, Shinzo became the Prime Minister for the first time in 2006 and resigned in 2007 as they suffered a significant loss in the upper house election. From 2012 to 2014, Shinzo became Prime Minister for the second time and made many policies between other countries. 

During the cabinet reshuffle and general election, Shinzo wanted to promote more women into ministerial positions. At the end of the general election, Shinzo became the Prime Minister for the third time and made policies and prioritised security and defence issues during his period. Again, he became the Prime Minister for the fourth time from 2017 to 2020. Since Shinzo had relapsed from Ulcerative Colitis which made his health deteriorate in 2020, later, he announced his retirement as Prime Minister on 28 August 2020. Shinzo also said during his press conference that he would remain in office until the LDP chose a successor.

Ex Japanese PM Shinzo Abe Cause Of Death

On 8 July 2024, Shinzo Abe was assassinated by a shooter at Nara, where he had been delivering a campaign speech. He was shot by an unknown person. Later, he was announced dead after suffering from Cardiopulmonary Arrest. During that time, Shinzo was 67 years old. The shooter is identified as Yamagami Tetsuya, a 41-year-old man. Shinzo Abe, who served as the Prime Minister of Japan from 2006 to 2007 and from 2012 to 2020, is widely searched by other politicians from countries whom he tied by the policies during his period as the prime minister.

Shinzo Abe Wife

Shinzo Abe’s wife is Akie Matsuzaki. Akie Matsuzaki is a Japanese radio DJ and a socialite. On 10 June 1962, she was born in Tokyo, Japan, to her parents, Akio Matsuzaki and Emiko Matsuzaki. Akie did her education at Sacred Heart School in Tokyo and graduated from Sacred Heart Professional Training College. In 1987, Shinzo got married to Akie Matsuzaki. Though they were married for 35 years, they do not have children. Earlier in their married life, they also had undergone many unsuccessful fertility treatments.

Shinzo Abe’s parents are Shintaro Abe and Yoko Abe. His father, Shintaro Abe, served in the House of Representatives from 1958 to 1991. He was born on 29 April 1924 and died on 15 May 1991. While his mother, Yoko Abe, was the daughter of Nobusuke Kishi and Yoshiko. Shinzo’s parents have three children, including Shinzo Abe. In addition, Shinzo has an elder brother, Hironobu Abe and a younger brother, Nobuo Kishi.
