Sonic the Hedgehog’s second movie outing might have only just been released this year, but it seems Paramount Pictures and Sega Corporation are already focused on the third movie.
Following on from news in May that the team was aiming for a 2024 release, it appears Sega and Paramount have now officially locked in a December 20, 2024 launch date. This was confirmed by the official Sonic movie social media account:
As of June, the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie surpassed $400 million at the global box office. In contrast, the original movie banked close to $320 million globally.
In an update back in May, it was also confirmed how the team was already seeking someone to voice the new enemy in the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie, and it wouldn’t necessarily be an existing voice actor (like Tails). Paramount is also working on a Knuckles live-action series, scheduled to launch in the same year.
