After six seasons, Better Call Saul just wrapped up its series with a shocking finale. The episode had it all, including plenty of flashbacks that brought back some of the most notable names in the franchise. The biggest shocker comes near the end, though, as everyone is wondering why exactly Jimmy decided to confess in Better Call Saul. Here is everything you need to know.

Why Did Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill Confess?

Despite having a plea deal arranged that managed to get him out of prison in about seven years, Saul decides to tell the truth about the situation with him and Walter White, stating it would have been impossible for Heisenburg’s empire to succeed without him. So why does he confess?

It all comes about once he hears that Kim Wexler confessed to being involved in Howard Hamlin’s death and coverup. This sparks something that comes to a realization once Saul hears that Kim could be taken for everything she’s got while he is on the plane.

Once in court, he chooses to confess in order to not only hope to shoulder the full blame for Kim’s situation, hoping to get her off in the eyes of the public and the courts but also to show her that he too is brave enough to come forward and confess as James McGill. He wanted to show her that Jimmy McGill is still there, even if he has to spend the rest of his life in prison.
