The 45-years old Moonhaven actor is getting real about his former relationship with Evangeline Lilly. He, in Wednesday’s episode of Anna Faris’s podcast, opened up about his breakup with his former co-star and girlfriend Evangeline Lilly whom he dated in the mid-2000s.

Why Did Dominic Monaghan Split From Lost Co-Star Evangeline?
Dominic Monaghan gave an exclusive interview during the podcast session opening up about his breakup with Lilly. As a reason, he brought up the infidelity incident in his relationship.
About his relationship of 3 years, Monaghan alleged that he was looking forward to continuing his relationship. He exclaimed that he is grateful for her presence in his life. He even stated that they even planned for marriage and kids. However, he regretted that his huge drinking issue is what affected their relationship the most. He said that though he was a committed actor in Lost on the weekdays, he was into drinking at the weekends.
Monaghan continued, “I think if you are drinking often, probably your behavior, choices and mood are up for debate and I think Evie was pretty straight down the middle… I was always the guy that wanted more.”
The Lord of the Rings alum then stated that he found out that Lilly was already seeing someone allegedly. Monaghan was informed by someone that Lilly was cheating on him and he felt like all the crew of Lost was aware and were trying to keep it a secrete from him.
He said the ones who gave him the information were trying to help and they didn’t think that he had all the facts and they thought there was a chance the island of Oahu was laughing at him.
He expressed his heart break in his words saying “I mean, to say I was devastated is an understatement, you know, I had to be told by a third party like, ‘You do realize that she’s with this guy,’ when we were together. And I was like, ‘Wait, what?’ And this person was like, ‘Yeah.”
Monaghan admitted, that after knowing all these he knew that they are not together anymore.

Dominic Bernard Patrick Luke Monaghan is a British actor in Hollywood, best known for playing Meriadoc “Merry” Brandybuck in Peter Jackson’s film trilogy The Lord of the Rings (2001–2003). Born on 8th December 1976 in West Berlin, Dominic always wanted to be an actor. He made his first feature film debut in Hostile Waters as a Russian sailor Sasha. She dated Dominic who was his co-actor in Lost for 3 years.
Though Monaghan has a serious heartbreak, he is grateful for the relationship.
