For example, Varys was born a slave, only to become a member of both the Mad King and King Robert Baratheon’s small council. Another great example is Mysaria. But who is Mysaria in House of the Dragon?
Who is Mysaria in House of the Dragon?
In House of the Dragon, Mysaria (played by Sonoya Mizuno) is a prostitute in Westeros. However, her roots go all the way back to Essos, where her life began as a slave. Despite starting life at the bottom of the ladder, Mysaria is currently in a love affair with Daemon Targaryen, brother of King Viserys Targaryen I.
Compared to the book House of the Dragon is based on, Fire & Blood, that is a wildly different background. Originally, her character was a dancing girl in Lys, though still very much Daemon Targaryen’s mistress. However, the fact still stands: Mysaria isn’t a princess or from royal blood.
Interestingly enough, several comparisons can be noted between Tyrion Lannister and Shae and House of the Dragon’s version of Mysaria and Daemon. It’s clear from the very first episode of House of the Dragon, Daemon and Mysaria are affectionate towards one another. And with Mysaria’s upbringing and understanding of the criminal underground, the two could prove to be a powerful pair.
