AEW Superstar Buddy Matthews is dating Rhea Ripley now, but whom did he date before her?
Recently it was confirmed that WWE RAW Superstar Rhea Ripley is in a relationship with AEW star Buddy Matthews. Reply confirmed via Twitter on Sunday that she is dating a fellow Australian wrestler.
This was cleared after a fan on Twitter asked a question about what Matthews has that she doesn’t, and in response to that, the former RAW Tag Team Champion stated, “Me.”
But this was not the first time Buddy was dating a WWE wrestler as before. Matthews was previously engaged to fellow professional wrestler Alexa Kaufmann better known as Alexa Bliss. It was reported that their engagement ended in September 2018.
Bliss even posted a heartfelt message on his release,
“Thanks for the kind words, Matt. Always been there & I always will be there for you can’t wait to see what you do next @WWE_Murphy”
Who is Buddy Matthews?
Matthew Adams, aka Buddy Matthews, is an Australian professional wrestler who is signed to AEW and made his debut for the promotion during the February 23 episode of Dynamite.
He also performed at WWE under the ring name Buddy Murphy. He signed a developmental contract with the company back on March 17 2013. Matthews was first assigned to developmental territory NXT.
On November 23, he debuted at the NXT house show teaming with Sawyer Fulton and Troy McClain against Angelo Dawkins, Colin Cassady, and Wesley Blake. He eventually became Cruiserweight Champion by defeating Alexander and became the first Australian man to do so.
Buddy made his last appearance for WWE on April 9 2021, at the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. He was then released from his WWE contract. He recently appeared as the third member of the House of Black. Last week saw Matthews, Malakai Black, and Brody King of The House of Black increase their rivalry with Penta Oscuro, PAC, and Rey Fenix of Death Triangle.
