Naomi Judd, one half of “The Judds” mother-daughter duo, was found in a pool of blood by her daughter, Ashley Judd, at her home in the late morning of April 30, 2024. Ashley called the emergency responders and Naomi was taken to Williamson Medical Center, south of Nashville.
Upon reaching there, the Nashville medical examiner pronounced her dead and her body was sent for autopsy. The police also found “a note with suicidal connotations” and a gun where Naomi was found badly wounded.

The autopsy reports of Naomi Judd are out around months later and they have confirmed that the American singing sensation died by suicide as she shot herself in the head with the gun found beside her body.
The reports also confirmed that Naomi had been managing post-traumatic stress and was struggling with bipolar disorder before shooting herself at her home in Tennessee earlier this year. The statement from her family confirmed the reports as well.
Judd and her family had previously discussed her lengthy battle with depression and other mental health-related issues. The report from the Nashville medical examiner’s office shared on Friday along with the statement from Judd’s relatives offer the most complete description of her demise due to the mental illnesses surrounding her depression.
Naomi Judd’s Toxicology Report States She had Drugs in her System
The autopsy report states that the gunshot “perforated through the right side of the scalp and entered the skull through an entrance-type gunshot wound.”
In addition to that, Naomi Judd’s toxicology report reveals that she had several drugs in her system at the time of her death. These drugs are used to treat insomnia, anti-Parkinson, depression, and seizures.
The report also confirms that Naomi was suffering from ‘significant’ anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, chronic idiopathic pneumonitis, hepatitis C, hypertension, and hypothyroidism. The late singer was going through a lot.

Famed actor Ashley Judd found her mother badly injured in April and took her to the nearby medical facility where she was pronounced dead.
Ashley Judd and Wynona Judd then announced the tragic passing of Naomi Judd in a joint statement shared on the same day.
“Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness,” the statement stated. “We are shattered. We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory.”
Around a month later, Ashley also talked about her mother’s death being self-inflicted on the Good Morning America show. “She used a weapon … my mother used a firearm,” the Heat star said.
“So that’s the piece of information that we are very uncomfortable sharing, but understand that we’re in a position that if we don’t say it someone else is going to.”
Judd Family recently filed a Lawsuit in Nashville
Judd’s family had recently filed a lawsuit in Nashville court seeking to block the public release of any video or audio interviews of grieving relatives that authorities conducted immediately after the singer’s death.
The family argues that it would cause them “significant trauma and irreparable harm.” The case is tentatively scheduled to be heard on September 12, 2024.
The recent autopsy report was made public to officially classify Judd’s manner of death as a suicide.
At the time of her death, Naomi was preparing to embark on a nationwide arena tour with her other daughter, singer Wynonna Judd. Unfortunately, the tour got canceled due to deeply saddening causes.
