Here is how to call for backup in Saints Row.

The heart and soul of the Saints Row franchise had always been about the gang. So it would be absolutely silly if the gang was nothing more than window dressing in this reboot. Even as AI partners, the gang is more than capable of providing support when you need it. Here is how to call for backup in Saints Row.

How to Call for Backup in Saints Row

There are two ways to call for backup and assist you within battles in the game. The first is to call one of your friends from your Contacts list. To pull it up, simply press the Touchpad/View button to take out your in-game phone and select the Contacts app.

There you will see a list of your closest allies such as Kev, Eli, Neenah, and Nahualli later in the game. Select one to call and he or she will appear and follow you, unless in a mission. These characters, except the last, all have loyalty missions that will boost their effectiveness in battle with more health and better weapons once completed.

Another way to call for backup is with the Intercession Skill, though it is more of an informal tool than a companion. The Intercession Skill lets you call Saints members to appear suddenly and fight any threat in front of you.

The Skill is unlocked at level 17, and must be [equipped through the Skills app](How to Level Up and Get New Skills link) on the phone. Once equipped, you can summon backup by holding the R1/RB button and pressing the face button that the skill is assigned to.
