When developer Treasure revealed that it was working on a “highly requested” title, our ears perked up. Responsible for some of our favourite games ever, the possibilities had us excited. However, it seems the announcement has slipped out a little early, as Gematsu has spotted “unused images” on publisher Happinet’s Tokyo Game Show 2024.

Treasure’s game in question is Radiant Silvergun, a 1998 arcade and Sega Saturn game that eventually got a worldwide release on Xbox 360 back in 2011. Many imported the game back when it was first released and claimed that this shmup kickstarted the genre’s revival in the late ’90s. So, we’re talking about what might be one of the best shmups of all time? Count us in.

This will be the first game Treasure has developed since 2014. Whether it’s a remake or a reboot remains to be seen. The incredibly-difficult Ikaruga is considered a spiritual sequel, so we’re expecting big things.

No platforms have been announced yet, but it looks like the game will be appearing at Happinet’s booth during TGS or during one of the company’s livestreams, which are scheduled for 17th September at 5pm JST and 18th September at 6pm JST. Fingers crossed for a Switch announcement!
