Which graphics mode is the best for you?

Naughty Dog’s seminal post-apocalyptic tale has made its way to the PS5 in a brand new “from the ground up” remake. While it overhauls a whole host of visual elements from the 2013 original, some of you out there may be wondering what the difference is between the Performance and Fidelity modes. That’s where we come in. Below, we’ll dive into what the Performance and Fidelity modes offer in The Last of Us Part 1.

Fidelity vs Performance – Which Should You Choose?

After spending around 15 hours with The Last of Us Part 1, more often than not we opted for the Performance mode. Not only do you get a silky smooth framerate, but the slight hit in resolution is really hard to notice.

Still, thanks to the original PS3 iteration running at around 30fps, we found ourselves enjoying the Fidelity mode on occasion as well, mainly thanks to how closely it resembles the game’s original incarnation.

With the Fidelity mode switched on, everything does look slightly sharper, and because it’s really easy to swap between the two modes, combined with the fact that the game is so cinematic, it’s definitely worth checking out the Fidelity mode in The Last of Us Part 1. Ultimately, the decision is up to you, but if we had to choose one, we’d probably go with the Performance mode overall.

So, that about wraps things up. We hope this helped to clue you in on what the difference is between the Performance and Fidelity modes in The Last of Us Part 1. For our in-depth review, look no further. And for more The Last of Us-related content, check out the relevant links below.
