Random: See How The World’s Biggest Working Nintendo DS Was Created

We’ve all heard of the phrase ‘go big or go home,’ right? Well YouTuber and all-round tech wizard, Bigrig Creates, seems to have fully embodied its message with his latest video in which he assembles the world’s biggest Nintendo DS.

Sharing the video on his YouTube channel, BigRig assembles the system’s iconic dual screens by combining a McDonald’s touchscreen table and a large computer monitor before 3D printing all the relevant buttons and D-pads.

The technical wizardry that goes into the electrical setup of this massive device is somewhat overshadowed by the fact that this device actually works! Demonstrating McDonald’s training simulator software, as well as Super Mario 64, Mario Kart DS, and Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter, the ‘DS XXL’ (though we think XXXXL may be more accurate, if not a bit of a mouthful) manages to run each iconic game and even improves the graphical resolution in the process.

As you can see from the video above, the sheer size of this gargantuan DS cannot makes the games somewhat difficult to play — we can only imagine the arm reach that would go into drifting the tear-inducing turns of Rainbow Road!

Never mind hitting the system with a red mushroom, this massive project brings out the big guns (a yellow mega mushroom, of course) to create the biggest playable edition of this cracking console. Though it would take some Bowser-sized hands to effectively take it on, BigRig’s project is seriously impressive… although it does impact DS’s portability somewhat.

Fortunately, this system isn’t commercially available, otherwise we might be trying to add it to our bulging retro console collections.
