Today is World Cat Day (you knew that right?) and while we may not be awash with national holidays and gift giving, the Pokémon company have managed to deliver us a present nonetheless.

The gift comes in the form of a series of Pokémon GO-themed 3D billboards, which will be showing outside Shinjuku Station in Tokyo from today until September 5th.

As a tie-in with World Cat Day (seriously, where is our national holiday?) the advertisements are all centred around the feline-inspired Pokémon that have inhabited many of the franchise’s regions. Looking at the first images of the billboards, those lucky enough to cat-ch a glimpse will be treated to appearances from Meowth, Espurr, Litten and many more.

The advertisement will remain in rotation outside Shinjuku Station until September 5th so there is plenty of time to see the board if you are lucky enough to live locally. Let’s hope that there are more Pokémon displays in store for us in the coming months.

3D billboards have become particularly prevalent in recent months, with many pop culture franchises using the new technology to advertise their brands. Check out the below examples for Netflix’s Resident Evil series and Square-Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.

What do you think of these billboards? Are there any cat Pokémon that you think are missing? Let us know in the comments below!
