People over 50 will get booster doses, says Bangladesh’s health minister

The age restrict for the booster shot will be lowered by 10 years, he confirmed to the media on the Secretariat on Sunday.

“The age limit for the booster dose is currently 60 years of age,” he stated. “But we have decided to administer the booster vaccine from age 50. The prime minister has approved the decision.”

Bangladesh started administering booster doses, a 3rd shot of the COVID-19 vaccine aimed toward shoring up immunity, on Dec 28 because the omicron variant of the coronavirus started spreading shortly all through the world. Initially, the federal government was solely giving doses to individuals over 60 and employees on the entrance traces of the pandemic.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services, the booster dose has been administered to 685,000 individuals throughout the nation as of Sunday.
