Park Jae-Sang Biography, Age, Height, Family, Girlfriend & Net Worth
PSY (Park Jae-Sang) is a South Korean rapper, singer, songwriter, and music producer who rose to international prominence because of his track “Gangnam Style.” The song went on to become one of the most popular songs.
Early Life of Psy
Psy was born on the 31st December, 1977. Park Jae-Sang is his given name. He was born in the Gangnam District of Seoul, South Korea, to a wealthy family. Park Won-Ho, his father, is the chairman of DI Corporation. Kim Young-Hee, his mother, is a restaurateur. Psy was regarded as the class clown at Sehwa High School because he disliked school. Former pupils have noted that he brought an infectious and cheerful atmosphere to his lessons.
The band Queen, notably “Bohemian Rhapsody,” influenced Psy’s musical tastes. Park had intended to attend Boston University, but by the time he arrived in the United States and began school, he had lost interest in his business administration studies. Psy used the money he had leftover from his tuition on musical instruments and equipment. He dropped out of BU and enrolled at Berklee College of Music, but he eventually left out to pursue a music career in South Korea.
Career of Psy
PSY’s music career got off to a rocky start when his first album, ‘PSY from a Psycho World,’ was penalized by the Korean government for having ‘inappropriate material.’ Regardless of how harshly he was chastised for his initial try, it was a decent success. Following the release of his debut, PSY released two more albums, ‘Sa 2’ and ‘3 PSY.’ PSY’s songs were criticized for being overly explicit and not having a positive effect on Korean youth, although he still won awards at the Seoul Music Awards that year.
PSY completed the required military training, which is required of all South Korean men, in 2003 and was promptly discharged owing to his employment description as a software programmer. PSY made a return in 2006 with the release of his next studio album, ‘Ssajib,’ which was both critically and financially successful.
PSY was restructured to continue his military duty in 2007 owing to job concerns, and he remained in the military for the next two years before being freed from his responsibilities in July 2009. In 2010, he was signed to YG Entertainment, Korea’s largest entertainment firm, and his fifth studio album, named ‘PSY 5,’ was released the same year. However, his problems did not go away, and a song from the album called “Right Now” was partially prohibited in South Korea owing to the obscenity on display.
With the release of his sixth album, “Psy 6 (Six Rules), Part 1,” everything changed for Psy. To say that the song “Gangnam Style” erupted into popular music scenes throughout the world is an understatement, and to say that the video went viral is an understatement. The song officially peaked at No. 1 on the iTunes Music Video Charts on August 21, 2012, surpassing Justin Bieber and Katy Perry. Since its debut on July 15, 2012, “Gangnam Style” has been viewed over 3 billion times on Youtube.
Personal Life of Psy
In October 2006, Psy married Yoo Hye Yeon, and the couple now has twin children.
