In today’s Annapurna Interactive Showcase, the developers of the gorgeous, stupidly incredible Outer Wilds said that the game is still coming to Switch.
“You did not collectively hallucinate our announcement of Outer Wilds for the Nintendo Switch,” said Mobius’ spokesperson in the showcase. “It’s possible that we were a bit over-optimistic on the time frame. At this point, it’s possible that we just fundamentally misunderstand the Gregorian calendar.”
Still, no exact update — although they also simultaneously announced an Xbox Series S|X and PS5 launch for the game on September 15th (in 60FPS, no less!), so here’s hoping us Switch players don’t get completely left behind.
Outer Wilds was first announced for the Nintendo Switch in February 2021 in a Nintendo Direct, for a Summer 2021 release. Obviously, that didn’t happen, but at least now we know they didn’t forget.
