It’s more or less a requirement of all JRPGs that at least one character is going to have to take on their lifelong rival in a fight to the death. In Soul Hackers 2, that character is Arrow, who has to fight his old friend (and the one who first killed him), Kaburagi. Here’s how to defeat Kaburagi in Soul Hackers 2.
How to Defeat Kaburagi in Soul Hackers 2
Before you take on Kaburagi, let’s prepare. Kaburagi himself is level 20, while his two demons are both level 19, so you’ll probably want to be at least level 18 for this fight. For elemental affinities, Kaburagi is weak against Ice, resists Elec, and blocks Ruin. His demons, Leanan Sidhe and Kurama Tengu, are weak against Fire and Elec, respectively. For those particular elements, I recommend bringing along Take-Minakata, Jack Frost, and Zhuque. Take-Minakata in particular is helpful, as he can reflect Kaburagi’s Elec attacks. For whoever’s left, you should have a demon with heals and a debuff ability. Any debuff is fine, I’ll tell you why in a moment. Oh, and be mindful of Gunfire weaknesses, as those are Kaburagi’s specialty.
When the fight starts, Kaburagi will immediately summon his demons, then cast Accelerate on himself. This’ll give him two actions per turn, both of which he’ll usually use on Gunfire attacks. On your turn, use multi-target attacks like Mabufu, Maragi, and Mazio to attack his whole team while building up Stacks for a Sabbath.

Kaburagi’s demons aren’t that strong but do have some annoying abilities. Leanan Sidhe will place a shield on Kaburagi that guards his Ice weakness, while Kurama Tengu uses Arm Chopper and Tarukaja to boost Kaburagi’s attack. Keep hammering them with their weaknesses to get rid of them as quickly as possible. Once they’re gone, quickly unload on Kaburagi with as much Ice and strong moves as you have, as after a few turns, he’ll summon his demons back.
Once you’ve weakened Kaburagi sufficiently, he’ll use Overdrive Mode to charge up for a big attack. On his next turn, he’ll use Execution, attacking your entire party with severe Gunfire damage, so make sure to put everyone on guard beforehand. Be prepared to burn the following turn on healing, too, because this one really hurts, especially if Kaburagi got a buff from Kurama Tengu.
Once you’re healed up, return to exploiting weaknesses as much as you can to build up your Stacks and eat up the rest of Kaburagi’s health. Don’t let his demons stay on the field for too long, and try to hit him with as much damage as you can before he uses Execution again. Once his health is in the red, don’t bother attacking his demons anymore, as they’ll automatically vanish after Kaburagi is defeated.
Congrats, you’ve defeated Kaburagi! Though, considering how sad the following scene is, it may not feel like much of a reward.
