The Master of the 619, was then involved in several storylines which eventually led to a feud with JBL. Mysterio beat JBL at WrestleMania 25 to win the Intercontinental championship.
A couple of years later, Mysterio won the WWE heavyweight championship for the second time after beating Jack Swagger, Big Show and CM Punk in a Fatal 4-way match.
The Super Duper Kid then teamed up with fellow Mexican (origin) Sin Cara for a couple of years in 2012 and 2013.
His presence in the promotion began to wane during the 2013s and 14s. And finally on the 26th of February in 2015, he was released by the promotion.
Mysterio then tried his hand at several independent circuits. He also made appearances at Lucha Underground, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide and many other promotions.
Finally, on the 28th of January in 2018, he made a return to the WWE, as the 27th participant at Royal Rumble 2018.
The very next year, Mysterio won the United States Championship for the first time.
He then went on to win the WWE SmackDown tag-team champion alongside his son Dominik Mysterio. Rey Mysterio and his son had a feud with The Miz and Logan Paul at WrestleMania 38, which they ended up losing. As of now, Mysterio is not involved in any such major storyline.
