What Happened To TY France? How Mariners Ty France Suffered An Injury?

What Happened To TY France?

In the first game of their crucial home series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday night, the Mariners’ lineup will receive a boost.

Jerry Dipoto, the general manager and president of baseball operations for the M’s, told Seattle Sports on Thursday morning that first baseman Ty France, the top All-Star candidate for the Mariners, should be activated from the injured list this weekend, with the hope that it would occur in time for Thursday’s 7:10 p.m. game against the Jays. On Thursday afternoon, Seattle activated France and gave outfielder Marcus Wilson the option to go to Triple-A Tacoma.

What Happened To Mariners’ Ty France?

According to general manager Jerry Dipoto, France might be activated as early as Thursday and will be taken off the 10-day injury list at some time during the Mariners’ four-game series against the Blue Jays. Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times claims that this will happen.

France had a good case for being selected for his first All-Star game before being identified in late June with a Grade 2 flexor strain of his left elbow. France had a slash line of.316/.390/.476 in 70 games with Seattle, hitting 10 home runs and driving in 45. Despite not being assigned to a minor league rehab assignment, France appears to have made steady progress during exercises over the past few days and is close to returning to the Seattle lineup. France should take over an everyday position at first base or designated hitter whenever he is given the go-ahead to play again, which will limit possibilities for players like Abraham Toro and Justin Upton.

Mariners’ Ty France

France has been sidelined since suffering a strained left elbow in a game against the Athletics in Oakland on June 23. He attempted to grab a throw that was offline by coming off the bag, but his glove arm ended up in an awkward contact with A’s runner Sheldon Neuse. It should be viewed as a rather meaningful win for the M’s given that France returned after missing just 12 games.

In 70 games this season, the 27-year-old France has a slash line of.316/.390/.476 for an.867 OPS, 10 home runs, and 45 RBIs. He was behind Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the most recent voting update, which was announced on Wednesday, but he is still one of two contenders to start at first base for the American League All-Star game. But it’s possible that he’ll get his first All-Star selection as a reserve.

When Will Ty France Return?

France will return to the Mariners lineup with a few changes. Following his injury, Seattle made a trade with Kansas City to acquire veteran first baseman/designated hitter Carlos Santana, who has played for the M’s for eight games and has hit 6 for 25 (.240) with six walks.

In the upcoming weeks, the Mariners’ lineup should gain even more reinforcements. Dipoto believes Mitch Haniger and Kyle Lewis will join France in leaving the IL before the end of August.
