Dorthea Lauren Allegra Lapkus was born on September 6, 1985, and is an actress, comedian, impressionist, and podcaster from the United States of America. Lapkus is most known for her roles as Susan Fischer on Netflix’s comedy-drama Orange Is the New Black and Jess on HBO’s comedy-drama Crashing. Additionally, she has been on television shows like Are You There, Chelsea? (2012), Hot in Cleveland (2012), Clipped (2015), The Big Bang Theory (2018–2019), and Good Girls (2020–2024), as well as in the movie Jurassic World (2015),[1] The Unicorn (2018), and The Wrong Missy (2020–2024). (2020). She portrayed Lotta in the animated comedy series Harvey Girls Forever! from 2018 to 2020.

Lapkus has been a guest on a number of podcasts, which include Comedy Bang! Bang!, improv4humans, and her own.

Career

Lapkus started earning parts in advertisements for Snickers and Jack in the Box after nearly a year in Los Angeles, and also a skit on Jimmy Kimmel Live! She gained representation as a reward for her achievements and won a supporting part in the briefly-aired Are You There, Chelsea? in pilot season.

Lapkus was selected as security guard Susan Fischer in the first and second seasons of the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black after self-taping her audition. Lapkus and the cast received the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance in a Comedy Series in 2015.

Lapkus debuted her own podcast, With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus, on the Earwolf network in 2014. The concept of the podcast is that almost every week, her guest is the speaker of their own podcast, in which she appears as a figure. Paul F. Tompkins, Betsy Sodaro, Andy Daly, Nick Kroll, and Scott Aukerman have all been among her guests. She has stated that she “never anticipated getting into podcasts at all,” and finds it amusing that she now has one.

Lapkus was featured in Jurassic World in mid-2014, which she shot in Hawaii and New Orleans. Numerous scenes involving Jake Johnson were modified. Early Life

Dorthea Lauren Allegra Lapkus was born in Evanston, Illinois on September 6, 1985. She began filming skits with her older brother at a tender age and eventually performed in the yearly student revue and variety show YAMO at Evanston Township High School.

She started attending improv lessons at the iO Theater throughout her final year of high school. She went to DePaul University and earned a degree in English in 2008 while continuing to practice improv most evenings. Lapkus attributes her early exposure to television comedies and Saturday Night Live to teaching her to pursue a career as a comedian.

She spent a year in New York City following college, when she became associated with the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. She came to Los Angeles in 2010 after 15 months in New York City.

Family and Personal Life

Julius is Lauren’s father. He was born in Lithuania and presently lives in Evanston, Illinois, with his wife Patricia. The star frequently posts pictures of her parents on social media. Patricia is a preschool teacher of Greek-Serbian background.

On May 3, 2014, Lapkus married actor and improviser, Chris Alvarado. On February 14, 2016, she declared their divorce; they separated later that year.
