She received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice-over Performance and an Annie Award for Outstanding Voice Acting in an Animation. Cartwright was born in Dayton, Ohio. She moved to Hollywood in 1978 and became acquainted with voice actor Daws Butler. Her first proficient role was voicing Gloria in the animated series Richie Rich, in which she played a lead role, followed by a starring role in Marian Rose White’s television movie in 1982.
