UFC welterweight contender Khamzat Chimaev chortles at the latest images of Colby Covington that surfaced on the internet with a chipped tooth
Images of the physical damage inflicted by Jorge Masvidal on Colby Covington have finally been released. TMZ Sports shared an image this afternoon (Mon., May 2, 2024) of the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) interim Welterweight titleholder from the night of his alleged disguised attack.
Covington has recently claimed he’s suffered brain damage in addition to the damage to his tooth and wristwatch. Masvidal is pleading not guilty to his aggravated battery and criminal mischief charges.
Covington’s attorney Bradford Cohen said in his request: “Interestingly, the images do not demonstrate an injury aside from a small chip in C.C.’s fake tooth.
“The evidence collected thus far clearly contradicts C.C.’s allegations. C.C. claims that Defendant hit him from behind.
“Exclusive footage shows that during the incident, C.C. was facing the individual he identified as Defendant.
“In fact, C.C. was looking at Defendant head-on prior to taking the hit then appears to run from Defendant in fear.”
Khamzat Chimaev was amused by the pictures, and reacted to them on Twitter with a couple of laughing emojis, ‘
Leaked: Nate Diaz vs Khamzat Chimaev booked for co-main event of UFC 276
Nate Diaz has been importuning the UFC for a fight against Dustin Poirier- a fight that in most likelihood will be his last in the company. Diaz has some major plans outside the company, details of which are still unknown. If experts are to be believed, the UFC top brass does not want to book Diaz in a fight in which he has significant or even slight advantage over his opponent.
On a recent episode of the Pivot podcast, Dana White serendipitously gave fans a bit better look at just what the UFC has in mind. Notably, a series of mock-up fight cards at UFC offices—which include a planned middleweight title fight between champ Israel Adesanya and top contender Jared Cannonier, along with the return of Khamzat Chimaev against none other than Nate Diaz.
This is the second time the UFC has tried to book this fight, since Diaz turned down the fight last time stating the the Chechen hasn’t fought elite competition yet. If the rumors are true. Chimaev caught Diaz’s attention with his showing against Gilbert Burns.
