An American actor, director, musician, and performer in both television and cinema with the stage name James Darren is James William Ercolani. He appeared in a number of well-known films in the late 1950s and early 1960s, including Gidget and its sequels, The Gene Krupa Story, All the Young Men, The Guns of Navarone, and Diamond Head. He was also briefly marketed as a teen pop singer. His involvement in television increased later in the 1960s when he took on the recurrent character of Vic Fontaine in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and starred in the brief science fiction series The Time Tunnel.
