When you’re playing I Was a Teenage Exocolonist, you learn pretty quickly that this game has the potential to get really bloody, really fast. Death is around every corner in this game, and you definitely need to play it a few times to know how to avoid it. Some deaths in I Was a Teenage Exocolonist are inevitable, but most can be avoided, such as the death of Tammy from your colony. Tammy, one of your childhood friends, dies very early in the game due to an unexpected electrical surge, but it doesn’t have to be that way! Some deaths are unavoidable in this game, but you can use this guide to save Tammy in I Was a Teenage Exocolonist!

How to Save Tammy in I Was a Teenage Exocolonist

If not prevented, Tammy will die in the Children’s Creche in Early Pollen when you’re 10 years old. This can have potentially severe ramifications on the rest of your playthrough, so it’s definitely recommended that you save her. Saving Tammy in I Was a Teenage Exocolonist is one of the most important things you can do in this game! Although it is possible to save Tammy from this terrible fate, you won’t actually be able to save her until you’re on your second playthrough.

The more endings you get in I Was a Teenage Exocolonist, the more choices you will get the next time you play; your character will remember certain situations from their “past lives” and you will be given more options to choose from to prevent certain situations from happening. On your second playthrough of the game, you character will remember that Tammy was killed by a power surge in a past life, so you will have 2 more options to choose from right before her untimely fate is sealed.

In Early Pollen, Tammy will wake you up from a nightmare you were having about her death, before telling you to meet her in the Kitchens later to get some freshly made candy. After she tells you this, she will skip her merry way to the Children’s Creche, to meet her (almost) inevitable demise. After this event, you will be given a few choices on what to do. Instead of the blissfully ignorant choices you got on your first playthrough, you’ll now have 3 choices you can make when Tammy goes off to the Creche to meet her demise: “I don’t want any candy”, “Wait! Go save Tammy!”, and “Forget dreams, get that candy!”.

The little purple symbols to the left of the choices mean they are a result of a past-life event. To save Tammy, you’ll (obviously) need to choose the “Wait! Go save Tammy!” option. Choosing either of the other two options will result in Tammy’s death. After you choose the “Wait! Go save Tammy!” option, you’ll run into the Children’s Creche and tackle Tammy before she can get electrocuted by touching the TV. Obviously, she’ll be a bit confused as to why she was just tackled, and it’s very important that you do not tell her it’s because you had to save her life.

After you tackle Tammy, you’ll be given 3 options to give her an explanation: “Sorry, are you hurt?”, “I just saved your life!”, and “It was an accident, I tripped”. As long as you don’t pick the “I just saved your life!” option, you’re good. Choosing this option will really freak her out, it’s best to keep your past-life memories to yourself in this game. In fact, if you continuously try to tell people about your past-life memories, you will be labeled “delusional” and will become institutionalised (no one wants to get that ending).
