Hoda began her career after graduating by working at CBS station WXVT in Greenville, Mississippi. She then worked as a reporter for ABC affiliate WQAD in Moline, Illinois, for a year. In April 1998, Kotb formally joined NBC News as a reporter for Dateline NBC and all NBC News programs. In 2011, she appeared in the music video “I’m Gonna Love You Through It,” which was dedicated to cancer survivors.
In 2015, Kotb began hosting a live one-hour show seven days a week on Sirius XM’s Today channel, focusing on relaxed, water-cooler topics. Honda took over as co-host of Today in 2019 after NBC News ousted anchor Matt Lauer following claims of inappropriate sexual behavior.
