During the preliminary rounds of the contest, she won the title of Miss Beautiful Skin and eventually won succeeding outgoing titleholder Adline Castelino. Hence, being chosen to represent her country at the Miss Universe 2024, which was held in Eilat, Israel on December 12.
- During the semifinals for Miss Diva 2024, Harnaaz opened up about having been bullied and body shamed growing up. She also stated that mental health issues were another problem that she had to battle through.
- On December 12, 2024, Harnaaz surpassed the initially 80 contestants, making it into the top 16, and went on to win the title of Miss Universe 2024. This made her the third Indian woman after 21 years to win the contest, the first two being Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta.
