Harlem woman fighting to repair leak in her parents’ bedroom

HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) — A Harlem woman says her condominium has flooded each day for weeks now. Luciana Calcano lives on the Grant Houses with her dad and mom. For weeks, water is coming from her dad and mom’ bedroom wall. 

Married 38 years, Calcano says her dad and mom are retiring quickly and deserve a wholesome residence. Right now, to escape the water and scent of mould, they’re sleeping in the lounge.  

The leak began again on Sept. 19. Calcano confirmed PIX11 News a number of repair tickets she’s put in. She tracks them on her MyNYCHA app. Plumbers are usually not scheduled to come till subsequent week. 

Calcano desires a plumber and a assure it gained’t occur once more. PIX11 News reached out to NYCHA. An hour after PIX11 News crews left, Calcano bought a name and a go to.  

A NYCHA spokesperson informed PIX11 News, “Plumbers are currently on site addressing the leaks at this apartment, which are being caused by a kitchen waste broken stack. Caretakers are also assisting the resident with clean-up of the water damage.”
