She is a law student who thrived in the social work atmosphere in college, and she believes that the achievement of others is just as essential as her own. Despite her status as a student, she worked as a hospitality coordinator at West Rock Center from 2015 to 2019. Incident
Gisela Castro Medina was arrested after she and Lazzaro were charged with federal crimes, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota. According to prosecutors, Medina and the 30-year-old Lazzaro are suspected of trafficking young females. Medina was arrested in Florida just hours after Lazzaro, but court documents do not specify the crimes she faces, and prosecutors have yet to comment. The case against Medina has not been made public by prosecutors. The US Attorney’s Office deleted Lazzaro’s name from an indictment following her detention. They are both accused of ten charges. Lazzaro was arrested following his initial appearance in federal court. According to Acting US Attorney Andrew Folk, Lazzaro and Medina “conspired with others to recruit and solicit six minor victims to engage in commercial sex activities.”
Medina is still being detained by the federal government. According to court documents, Medina was arrested at the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Her address, according to jail records, is an apartment at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was arrested at 6 p.m. on August 12, 2021, booked into detention soon before 10 p.m., and released from the Okaloosa County prison on August 13, 2021. After being released from that jail, she was placed in the Santa Rosa County Facility on a U.S. Marshal’s hold.
Charges Against Gisela Medina
According to federal prosecutors, “one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of juveniles, five charges of sex trafficking of minors, one offense of attempted sex trafficking of a minor, and three counts of obstruction.” All of the victims, according to federal officials, are under the age of 18. Federal officials think the victims were trafficked in Minnesota between May and December 2020, according to the indictment. Federal prosecutors did not provide any additional information about the claims against Medina and Lazzaro right away.
