Enter the Gungeon holds a lot of goodies and weapons to really take the fight to the gundead. From T-shirt cannons to jars of bees to bullet upgrades, you can’t really complain about the selection that’s on offer. Combinations of items and weapons can even lead to synergies, powerful combo effects that can take your arsenal to the next level. However, some passive items also hinder you as well as help you, and some weapons get out-gunned by better ones you find along your travels. How can you drop these redundant and annoying items and weapons in Enter the Gungeon?

Why drop weapons and items?

It may seem counterintuitive to drop anything in this game, as everything is there to help. When facing the hordes of weaponry and the devastating bosses, surely anything would be better than nothing, right? Well, some passive items boost you as well as nerf you, as if a trade.

The Heavy Bullets are a good example, dealing more damage and knockback at the cost of bullets being slower. Some items even increase the player’s curse, which could lead to more powerful and ‘Jammed’ opponents showing up. To prevent some items’ hindrance and to stop the player’s curse from punishing them down the line, players may want to leave such items behind.

Weapons can also be a pain if you are carrying a lot of redundant ones. Having to repeatedly switch out weapons can be infuriating in the heat of battle. I generally would advise you wait for a duct tape or a muncher to allow those useless guns to benefit you, but you may have just one or two too many.

How to drop weapons and items in Enter the Gungeon

Dropping things in the game is easy, but is risky and not the clearest.

For passive items, you must open the map. Using your mouse select the passive item on the bottom row. In the top left is a red ‘drop’ button. Select it and watch the item fly onto the floor. This cannot be done for starting passive abilities.

For active items, select the item you wish to disregard by hitting left-shift. Once selected, hold ‘G’. It will drop to the floor.

For weapons, select the gun you no longer want by hitting left-control. Then hold ‘F’. The gun will be thrown away.

Be wary, however, as any item or weapon dropped will quickly be snatched by the Resourceful Rat as soon as you leave the room.
