Thomas Dobosz Died
Thomas Dobosz, 32, was getting treatment at the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. The Cook County medical examiner’s office announced the news of his death on Wednesday, August 3, 2024. He was pronounced dead at 11:17 AM on Wednesday.
The medical examiners haven’t performed an autopsy yet. Dobosz suffered critical life-threatening injuries in the car crash that killed seven people including his family members. Both the cars were set on fire after the collision as per the investigators.
McHenry County Wrong Way I-90 Crash: How did it happen?
Dobosz and his family were involved in a car crash a couple of days ago in Mchenry County, near Hampshire, Illinois. Thomas was driving an I-90 when he crashed into a gray Acura driven by 22-year-old Jennifer Fernandez. She was driving in the opposite direction of traffic when he crashed head-first into Dobosz’s car.
The collision was so intense that it set both cars on the fire. Fernandez was pronounced dead on the spot. Along with her, Thomas’ wife Lauren Dobosz, and their four children died right away at the scene. The kids were Emma, Lucas, Nicky, and Ella.
Katriona Koziara, 13, who was the couple’s oldest daughter’s friend also died in the tragic crash right away. The unfortunate incident killed a total of 7 people.
Thomas Dobosz was the sole survivor of the crash
Thomas Dobosz, the father and the driver, was the sole survivor of the crash with critical injuries. He was taken to the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood by helicopter. He was getting treated and was kept in the intensive care unit.
However, Thomas succumbed to his injuries and died a couple of days later. The doctors revealed there was no improvement in his condition and he had multiple injuries to the vital organs.

Thomas Dobosz died after suffering fatal injuries in the Hampshire car crash that killed his family a couple of days ago. He was getting treated at the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood since early Sunday morning.
He took his last breath on Wednesday at 11:17 AM. No autopsy was done as of yet. The Illinois State Police and the organizer of a GoFundMe page for the family also confirmed the dreadful news of his death.
“We come with a heavy heart today with an update on Tom. Tom has gained his angel wings and is now with his amazing wife Lauren and precious children. We ask that you keep his family in your prayers. All proceeds are going to the family,” wrote Lisa Torres of the Oriole Park Falcons, a youth travel football and cheer program
