But currently, Alcaraz has become the talk of the town in Madrid. The 19-year-old had previously beaten Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals of the Madrid Open before getting past Djokovic. Victories over the two tennis greats extended Alcaraz’s winning streak over top-10 opponents to six. It was also a clear indication that the Spaniard possesses the level to consistently match the very best on the circuit.
Alcaraz also became the first player to beat 21-time Grand Slam champion Nadal and 20-time major winner Djokovic on consecutive days on a clay court. Alcaraz will now face Alexander Zverev in the final of the Madrid Open. The local boy will definitely be carrying plenty of confidence heading into the final game of the tournament.
