Bubba Wallace, Vikings and Clint Eastwood: Here’s what’s streaming for Canada on Netflix, Crave and more this week

With so many different streaming platforms and cable offerings to navigate, choosing what to watch has never been harder. To make things easier, here are our best tune-in tips for the week ahead.

MONDAY

The Endgame

Morena Baccarin and Ryan Michelle Bathé star in the ultimate high-stakes showdown between criminal mastermind Elena Federova and FBI Agent Val Turner. When they play Elena’s game, deadly truths are revealed… and everyone bows to the queen.

This high-stakes thriller stars Morena Baccarin (“Homeland” and “Gotham”) as Elena Federova, a recently captured arms dealer and brilliant criminal mastermind. Despite being apprehended, the antagonist still manages to orchestrate co-ordinated bank heists while in custody. Her adversary and the show’s chief protagonist is FBI agent Val Turner, played by Ryan Michelle Bathé (“All Rise”). “I think she is fighting for a good cause,” Baccarin said during a Television Critics Association panel when asked if her character was an anti-hero audiences would root for. “Any good villain has real reasons to be doing what they are doing and that is the case with this character.” Pick of the week.

NBC, 10 p.m.

TUESDAY

Cat Burglar

Classic cartoon craziness meets an interactive quiz in CAT BURGLAR. In this Tex Avery inspired toon from the creators of BLACK MIRROR, the viewer helps Rowdy Cat vex Peanut the Security Pup and break into a museum with the goal of making off with a priceless prize. With an average runtime of ten minutes, and over an hour and a half of animation to choose from, the viewer could play CAT BURGLAR a hundred times and never view the same cartoon twice!

If you are craving new “Black Mirror” episodes, this might be the next best thing. The creators of that futuristic dystopia series — and its interactive episode “Bandersnatch” — have done it again. This time around, Charlie Brooker and his team have combined a classic cartoon with an interactive trivia quiz. By answering onscreen questions, viewers help Rowdy Cat break into a museum and steal paintings before being apprehended by Peanut the Security Pup. While the average run time is 15 minutes, there is over an hour and half of animation to choose from and the episode can be played multiple times to unlock previously unseen scenarios.

Netflix

RACE: Bubba Wallace

Both the personal and professional tracks of race car driver Bubba Wallace’s life are chronicled in this new docuseries. With exclusive access to Wallace during the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season, his first with Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin’s 23XI Racing, the six-episode series traces his rise to the elite ranks of NASCAR as the only full-time Black driver and the turbulent aftermath that followed his decision to speak out about racial injustice.

The double entendre within the title of this Netflix docuseries is intentional. “RACE: Bubba Wallace” follows the personal and professional life of race car driver Bubba Wallace. Primarily homing in on Wallace preparing for the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series, the six episodes track Wallace’s rise as the only full-time Black NASCAR driver and what happened after he decided to speak out against racial injustice.
