Some are great Pokemon who are ideal for new lineups, while others are trainer cards capable of making new strategies possible. All of this hinges on knowing what you need to be on the lookout for though, which is why we’ve constructed this list of the best cards to pull from Pokemon Sword and Shield: Lost Origin.
Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR
Hisuian Zoroark VStar is set to be one of the most-wanted cards from the Pokemon Sword and Shield: Lost Origin set, and not just because of its VStar status.
Its primary attack Ticking Curse has huge damage dealing potential, capable of boosting its power if other Pokemon on a players bench have damage counters on them. This provides the opportunity for plenty of new deck metas centered around intentionally taking damage or countering powerful opponents following a grueling series of exchanges.
Likewise, its Phantom Star ability is great for any deck built around quickly cycling through cards, as well as getting players out of a sticky situation with a potential new slate of tactical options. As such, it can play just as big of a supporting role as it could a leading one, making Hisuian Zoroark highly versatile.
Hisuian Goodra VSTAR
Another potential VStar card for the taking, Hisuian Goodra VStar is as valuable competitively as it is monetarily.
Through the use of its Rolling Iron ability, players can decimate opponents with heavy damage while also boosting the card’s defense against attacks. Its Moisture Star ability, meanwhile, allows it to heal all the damage enacted against it up to that point, giving the card a fresh bill of health and more time on the field.
This makes Hisuian Goodra VStar an ideal heavy-hitting tank, dealing out high amounts of damage while taking absurd damage with little issue and allowing players to set up a variety of other plays as it does.
Aerodactyl VSTAR
Next up is Aerodactyl VStar, and it stands among the best damage dealers out of the cards you can pull from Pokemon Sword and Shield: Lost Origin.
Using its Lost Dive attack, this card can make quick work of even the bulkiest Pokemon cards out there. It also has the added benefit of adding the top three cards from a plsyer’s deck to the lost zone, allowing for the acceleration of strategies that hinge on a high Lost Zone counter. Its Ancient Star ability is nothing to sneeze at either, instantly eliminating the abilities of any Pokemon V in play so long as they aren’t also Aerodactyl VStars.
Top it off with the card’s general rarity and value, and it’s easily one of the best cards to pull from Pokemon Sword and Shield: Lost Origin.
Hisuian Electrode V
While most will probably see this card strictly for its rarity and value, Hisuian Electrode V is easily one of the best cards to pull from Pokemon Sword and Shield: Lost Origin thanks to its setup attack.
Privy to Tantrum Blast as its primary offensive ability, this Pokemon is capable of multiplying the damage it deals for every Special Condition affecting it. This means it could become strong enough to take down even the strongest cards out there, so long as enough time is taken to properly set it up for success.
Granted, this can be tricky to pull off against decks aimed at fast-acting effects or Fire damage, but that still leaves a wide range of scenarios where this Pokemon card could be viable.
Radiant Gardevoir
One of the few Radiant cards on this list, Radiant Gardevoir is easily one of the best cards to pull from Pokemon Sword and Shield: Lost Origin for a few reasons.
To start, there’s its Loving Veil ability. While active, it reduces the damage done to any of your Pokemon by your Opponent’s Pokemon V. This gives it an almost universal utility against opposing decks, so long as the opponent has and tries to use at least one Pokemon V.
Its Psychic attack is also nothing to sneeze at. Capable of increasing the damage it deals by 20 for every energy card attached to the opponent’s Pokemon, it’s a perfect punishment for anyone who tries to set up a powerful attack without proper defenses.
Mirage Gate
An interesting Trainer card that with a specific purpose, Mirage Gate is a pull players should be gunning for out the gate.
This card allows players to stack Energy cards onto their Pokemon so long as there’s at least seven cards in their Lost Zone. While this may sound difficult at first glance, reaching this number and then utilizing this card is a cinch thanks to the effects of several cards from the Lost Origin set.
As a result, this card is an easy way to farm up most all of a player’s Energy cards in no time flat, allowing for devastating attacks to be used in quick succession. This becomes even more pronounced if one can use the maximum of four in quick succession, making this an easy card to put among the best cards to pull from Pokemon Sword and Shield: Lost Origin.
Colress’s Experiment
Don’t let this card’s lack of rarity fool you; Colress’s Experiment has a ton of versatility in a wide range of decks, making it one of the best cards to pull from Pokemon Sword and Shield: Lost Origin by far.
On its face, the card has some great utility thanks to the fact that it lets you draw three new cards whenever it’s used. This is perfect for digging through one’s deck for the exact cards needed for a specific strategy, while also allowing players to switch to a different game plan if their current hand isn’t viable.
On the other hand, the fact that it makes players discard two cards into the Lost Zone is also highly valuable. When paired with cards that can pull from the Lost Zone, or cards that have attacks boosted by having cards in the lost zone, it can become a central pillar to some annoyingly effective strategies.
