Olivia Breen- Professional Career
Olivia Breen is afflicted with cerebral palsy. She’s been racing since she was in elementary school. In January 2012, she received her T38 classification, allowing her to be considered for Paralympic selection.
She competed in the IPC Athletic European Championships in the Netherlands in January 2012. She came in third place in both the 100m and 200m sprints. The same year, she ran a personal best in the 100m at the European Championships.
She set a personal best in the 200m sprint at the Diamond League competition at Crystal Palace in London in July 2012. She was eventually named to the United Kingdom’s Paralympic athletics team for the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Breen competed in the T38 100m and 200m sprints. With a time of 14.42 seconds, she finished sixth in the 100m final.
She finished eighth in the 200m final with a time of 30.22 seconds. She also competed in the first leg of the bronze-winning T35-38 women’s relay team. Breen then competed in the 2013 IPC World Championships in Lyon. Olivia finished fifth in both the 100m and 200m. She then switched from running to long leaping.
