The great American activist Alison served as one of the seven elected commissioners on the board of San Francisco Board of Education from 7th January 2019 until her recall for the election on 15th February 2024. In the recall elections, Collins was forced out of the position by at least 79% of the votes. On 21st February 2024, a campaign committee was held for recall elections and for which many billionaires and millionaires came forward to support the campaign. The campaign was held for the recall elections of Collins and other two commissioners of the Board of Educations including board President Gabriela López, Vice President Faauuga Moliga. Earlier on 7th September 2021, the campaign was carried out for the submission of at least 81,200 signatures to remove Collins.
On 18th October 2021, the city officials announced that 51,325 signatures have been verified for the recall elections which were scheduled for 15th February 2024. It was the first attempt by San Francisco after a failed attempt by the ousting mayor Dianne Feinstein in 1983. Collins, along with two other members of the board of education, became the first member of the school board to be recalled in the history of San Francisco. The activist Collins got involved in the controversial decision made by the Board of Education including the attempt to rename 44 schools, attempted destruction of Life of Washington murals, and the controversial refusal of the consultants to reopen the school amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Alison Collins is a happily married woman. She is married to her loving and caring husband Chris Collins, who is a real estate developer and a principal at Urban Pacific Development, LLC. Currently, She is serving as the owner of the consulting company, Falcon Pacific LLC. The couple is living happily in Russian Hills, the neighborhood of San Francisco. They have two twin daughters.
Involvement in Controversies
Once in 2016, Collins complained about the incident involving the bullying and the provocations of racism at Francisco Middle School that were also attended by her daughters at that time. This subsequently rejected the renewal of the contract of the Principal Patricia Theel of the school. Thereafter, Theel along with two other employees of the San Francisco Unified School District accused Collins of bullying behavior and promoting the toxic atmosphere at the school.
